Hey there! I’m Heather, book coach, writer, and reformed perfectionist.

Welcome! You’re in good company.

I’d always wanted to write a novel. But after several unsuccessful attempts, I began to think, “Maybe I just don’t have the talent, creativity, or intelligence to write a novel.”

The ability to write a novel, though, isn’t something you either have or you don’t. It’s something you have to learn.

Once I learned how to write a novel, and I realized that it was my perfectionist mindset keeping me stuck, I also wanted to help others struggling with the same obstacles I did.

I know how frustrating it can feel: You’re desperate to write, but you actively avoid it. You’re afraid that the words won’t come out right, that you can’t do it.

But I can help you overcome the thoughts that keep you from writing and teach you how to write the best story possible along the way. I’m your accountability buddy and your cheerleader, helping you move past your self-doubt to finally accomplish your dream.

I’m here to help you find your confidence to get your novel on the page.

Why did I become a book coach?

Some of my favorite stories mean the world to me—when I see characters in books that I relate to, they make me feel seen and heard. That’s why I’m committed to helping writers create the best story they can to raise their voices, help others feel that connection, and get their novels into the world.

Others can benefit from your words. They might even change someone else’s life!

A little more about me…

  • I’m an Author Accelerator Certified book coach.

  • I got my start helping writers in college, where I trained and worked as a writing consultant for four years.

  • I’ve worked as a digital content writer and editor for five years.

  • I wrote my first novel for NaNoWriMo when I was 15. I’ve been learning from my mistakes ever since!

  • No surprise here: I’m an avid reader. Some of my favorite genres include historical fiction, YA, and chick-lit, which I think are just as important as literary fiction.

  • I also can’t resist a good non-fiction book about food, how our brains work, and—of course—writing!

  • I became a book coach to blend my love of stories, writing, and helping others.

  • I’m obsessed with my dog. This has nothing to do with writing, I just can’t help but talk about Chase any chance I get.

What People Are Saying

“Heather showed me the value of having a book coach; I highly recommend working with her. She helped me think through the prep work that would make my writing process smoother. I’m sure without her I would have scrapped my first few versions when I realized, too late, that I’d forgotten to think about critical aspects of character or storyline. She helped me focus on what was most important and make steady progress with check-ins and encouragement. Her feedback on my writing was helpful, both encouraging and constructive.”

—Shira Lee

“Heather's feedback was exactly what I needed: positive feedback, questions, and suggestions for improvement. She pointed out areas for improvement and offered suggestions to help with story structure and character definition, while also encouraging me to keep my butt in the chair and press on with my first romance novel (after successfully publishing five nonfiction books).”
